Archaeology Conference Cymru.

Dave Crisp and Alan Tamblyn recently attended to represent the hobby and our members at the Archaeology Conference Cymru held in Wrexham, North Wales. It was held over three days across three venues, the newly renovated Museum of Wales, the University of Wrexham and the Park in the Past. Both the museum and the park are must-see venues if you are in the area. It’s well worth the journey even if you aren’t in the area!

The conference was organised in part by Susi White, FLO and supporter of responsible metal detecting and the event was a credit to Susi and all those involved. Many of the speakers gave presentations based on data from the PAS database, data created by detectorists that record their finds. The presentations were recorded and will shortly be available to view on the website.

We are sure you’ll be as pleased as we were to see the huge difference that metal detecting has made to our understanding of the past, and has in many cases, changed the archaeological record of the nation. So a huge well done to those who’ve recorded their finds so far, and for those that haven’t, you may change your minds when you see how important the data is to historians and archaeology as a whole.
