In more news from the Annual General Meeting (held on 27/06/21) it was decided that there is a need to create a new communication role and to move the General Secretary role from a voluntary position to one that is paid.
To avoid any hint of creating ‘jobs for the boys’ the NCMD Officers would like to make it clear that they have made themselves ineligible to apply for either role. These roles really are open to anyone with the right skills and experience and we will be scrupulous in ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process.
Communications Expert (3 days a week) – This is a newly created paid part time contract position to really step up our communications activity over the next 12 months. Over the last year we have improved guidance about our hobby and now have exciting plans to do a lot more! This role will report to the NCMD’s Communication Officer, which remains an unpaid voluntary position. The closing date for applications is Sunday 18 July, with interviews in the following two weeks. https://www.ncmd.co.uk/ncmd/ncmd-communications-officer-job-vacancy/
The General Secretary role – After 3 years searching for a General Secretary, Kevin Gorman was appointed into the role last summer. He’s done an incredible job in the last 12 months and continues to be committed to the role until a suitable replacement can be found. It requires a very important mixture of skills and knowledge and is a role that requires a quite significant time commitment, week in, week out. Therefore, to make the role more attractive to a wider range of people, it has been decided that a payment should be attached to the position.
If you are interested in being the new General Secretary then please apply by the end of July – more details, a job descriptions, salary information and how to apply can be found here https://www.ncmd.co.uk/ncmd/1351/
Don’t just think about it, if you have the right skills for either role please apply. If you don’t then we’d love you to share the job descriptions with others. We’ll be advertising the roles more generally too in order to hopefully get the right candidates for both positions.
