This message is specifically for the members of the following regions: Midlands, Western, Southern and Yorkshire
Following the suspension of five delegates from your regions – John Wells (Midlands), Clive Sinclair (Southern), Sydney Hallam (Yorkshire), David Rees and Brian Vaughan (Western)- the remaining regions that make up the Executive Committee, and all the Executive Officers have contacted all four regions and invited them to engage with us. We have contacted Laura Wells (Midland), Nick Keeler (Western), Roger Mintey (Southern) and Barry Freeman (Yorkshire) and offered any meeting platform, including mediation, so they may represent you, their members, at National level.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing, all four delegates have refused the offers we have made.
This leaves the NCMD no alternative but to write to you all direct; this will take place in the coming days. Please be assured that you have nothing to be concerned about – your membership is safe with us. We are here to answer any of your queries, we will provide you with all the facts you need to counter the deliberate, malicious misinformation which has been publicly posted recently by David Rees, John Wells and Brian Vaughan. These claims include posting that:
• the NCMD insurance does not cover its members on rallies – UNTRUE
• some Executive representatives not holding full Officer status – UNTRUE
• meetings have taken place without a quorum being present – UNTRUE.
The list goes on and on, you will be given all the facts in the letter you will receive from us.
In the meantime, to help you understand why we took such drastic action, you can find the letter of suspension sent on 15 July 2021 to the five individuals here. This shows the real reasons they were suspended.
So, as we have already said, you have nothing to worry about, in the letter you will be given an email address where you can privately post questions and receive advice, and we look forward to hearing from you.
In the meantime, the Executive Officers continue to work tirelessly on your behalf to improve the NCMD and watch over the hobby, ever ready to counter threats from any quarter.
The suspension letter sent on the 15 July 2021
To. Brian Vaughan, David Rees, John Wells, Clive Sinclair, and Sydney Hallam
On July 3rd, 2021, you were all sent an invite to an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) via zoom to be held on 10th July 2021. The invite highlighted the extreme seriousness of the content of the meeting.
Despite the seriousness of the meeting each of you sent an email with your various reasons why you could not attend even though the meeting was to be held via the zoom platform and could be accessed from anywhere.
On the morning of the 10th of July 2021, you were all sent the agenda for the zoom meeting, again the agenda stressed the seriousness of the content of the meeting. The agenda offered a time slot for any representation from or on behalf of yourselves, the meeting was planned to commence at 17.00hrs.
At 16.55hrs we received an email from you which was entered into the available time slot on the agenda and formed part of the meeting discussion.
The issues raised in this letter are directed at the five individuals named above, and not with the regions to which they are associated, which are Western, Midland, Southern and Yorkshire.
In the past several months all five of you have persistently refused to attend meetings, also, meetings were cancelled at your request, including an AGM. During this same period numerous letters were received from all five of you containing various levels of inaccuracies, untruths, and sometimes scurrilous content, including personal attacks on Executive Officers. On every occasion you received answers from the Officers containing facts that refuted all of your claims.
All five of you have persistently, knowingly, and willfully worked together to attempt to block any and all proposals from the Executive Officers, and therefore all progress within the NCMD.
We now draw your attention to two profoundly serious incidents.
On June 8th, 2021, we received an email from Brian Vaughan which purported to be on behalf of the four regions mentioned above, accusing two Executive Officers and a third named person of a profoundly serious allegation. The allegation was not true and extremely distressing for the individuals involved. Emails were sent to each of you David Rees, John Wells, Clive Sinclair, and Sydney Hallam on two separate occasions asking if you were aware that this message had been sent by Brian Vaughan to the NCMD General Secretary and if you were aware of the content. On both occasions none of you answered and so we can safely assume that you were all fully aware of the malicious content within the email.
Another equally disturbing incident relates to the June 2021 AGM.
The time limit for nominating NCMD officers for vacant posts was set to close at midnight on 13th June 2021, at 11.26 pm on the 13th, we received an email from Brian Vaughan again purporting to be from the four regions, informing us that the nomination form which had been supplied was illegal, and that you had completed a legal version of the form. The timing of this was clearly designed to render all nominations except your own, inadmissible, and therefore with the obvious time restrictions your own Delegates would take the Officer positions unchallenged.
As you are all now aware your nomination form was not attached to the email sent at 11.26pm, and as you no doubt already knew, there was nothing illegal in the nomination form which was issued.
What followed was an attempt to fraudulently change the original email dated 13th July in an attempt deceive the Executive Officers and subsequently take control, by deception, of the NCMD.
At the EGM on 10th July the following was proposed and unanimously approved by the attending Executive Committee members and Executive officers.
Brian Vaughan, David Rees, John Wells, Clive Sinclair, and Sydney Hallam will no longer be recognised as Executive Committee members. This is the decision the majority of the Executive Committee members, and all Executive Officers.
It is now the duty of the five individuals named to inform your committee members and general membership of this decision, in order that they may select other regional delegates to attend future Executive Committee meetings and perform Executive Committee duties on behalf of their membership.
Failure to inform your regional office-bearers and members or using misinformation at any level will result in your membership being contacted by Executive Officers with all the facts, it is the duty of the majority of the Executive Committee and all the Executive Officers to protect the NCMD members at all times.
In the past, and most recently in the email from John Wells on 10th July, you have, threatened to go ‘public’ with what has happened in the last year, even if this damaged the image of the NCMD. Only misinformation, lies and scaremongering will hurt the NCMD and whilst we already know that you are capable of this, we will no longer tolerate your threats.
Please be aware that the majority of the Executive Committee and all the Executive Officers are poised ready to counteract with FACTS any and all attempts to derail the success the NCMD has enjoyed in recent months.
Be further aware, that any derogatory or insinuative comments regarding the Executive Officers will be met with a vigorous defence. Any potential libellous and or slanderous statements will be met with a legal challenge.
Kevin Gorman. General Secretary NCMD
On behalf of Anglian region, North-West region, North-East region, Scottish region. Individual members, Central Register, and all Executive Officers.
