Being a Sunday morning, it was off to pick up Dad to go detecting. We decided to go to one of his permissions which has thrown up some nice artefacts in the past. I had found a lovely silver medieval ring brooch, but things were a little slow for Dad, so after a few hours I suggested we try another field that had produced for us. Within half an hour I got a good clean signal on my Nocta Simplex Plus, I dug down 6” and was rewarded with this Louis XIII Nuremberg Jetton. It looks like the maker was Wolf Lauffer and dates between 1612 and 1651. I did feel it was rubbing salt into the wound for Dad as the move hadn’t added anything to his find’s pouch.
