Find Title:
Augustus comet (sidus lulium) silver denarius
Please add a description of your find, add as much detail as possible. Also include the PAS reference number where possible, if it has been added to the database.:
20mm diameter. Minted in Caesaraugusta, Hispania (Saragossa, Spain) in 19 or 18 BCE, elements of the legend can be seen on both obverse and reverse - CAESAR AVGVTVS on the obverse and DIVVS IVLIVS on the reverse (the DIVVS is much clearer). Both sides have been counter stamped - an R on the bust (below the ear) and NO? beneath the comet on the reverse (I have no information on either of these, yet...), so assume it was in circulation for some time. FLO informed and images shared, but not yet recorded with the PAS.
