INDIVIDUAL AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
What is Individual and Associate membership ?
Individual and Associate membership is specifically designed to cover the
needs of all those responsible detector users in the country who chose
not to become members of established metal detecting clubs but wish
their best interests in absorbing pastime to be represented at both
national and local levels by experienced people who are eager to promote a
positive image for metal detecting. Individual and Associate
membership is a protection device, providing first rate public
liability Insurance cover and guarding against the erosion of existing
freedoms. Individual and Associate membership is a mechanism which
keeps individuals up to date on ,matters of local and national importance
and allows them to have some input on topics which might effect the
future of the hobby.
NCMD CONDITIONS
OF INDIVIDUAL AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
An application may be submitted by any
person who chooses not to become a member of a recognised NCMD
affiliated club. Applications must be completed in full on the
official Individual and Associate membership application form, but
submission of that form does not infer the right to membership for the
applicant.
2. Applicants must be free from conviction for any offence relating
to metal detecting activities, must have no such legal cases pending
against them at the time of application, and shall not have been
expelled from or refused membership of any NCMD affiliated club or
other recognised metal detecting organisation , for activities which
could bring that body or hobby
into disrepute.
3. Individual and Associate membership are granted on a yearly basis,
renewable at the discretion of the NCMD, to individuals who fulfil the
required criteria and pay the annual subscription at the current rate.
There is no facility for family or discounted membership
4. Individual and Associate members will agree to adhere to the
constitution of the NCMD abide by the decisions of the Council, and
observe its code of conduct at all times.
5. Individual and Associate members will enjoy all the privileges
offered to individual members of affiliated clubs, except that
representation at general meetings of the NCMD will be through the
Individual and Associate member secretariat, who will be appointed by the
general committee. Individual and Associate members do not have voting
powers at NCMD meetings, but may attend meetings to observe or
petition the officers and committee at an agreed time following
advance notice in writing.
6. Individual and Associate members will not commit the NCMD to any
financial, legal or political undertaking without the express
permission of the general committee in writing.
7. The committee of the NCMD retain the right to expel, suspend or
reprimand any members who do not conduct themselves within the terms
of these conditions . The NCMD reserves the right to demand return of
all membership and insurance cards, issued by it to Individual
and Associate members, which remain the property of the NCMD at all
times.
8. The NCMD reserve the right to refuse membership to any
individual, at any time, without the need to give reason for that
refusal.
What Does Individual and Associate membership offer ?
At National Level :- Membership of the National Council For Metal
Detecting, complete with £10,000,000 public liability insurance cover
both in the UK and when on holiday abroad (America and Canada require
that you notify the NCMD prior to departure to ensure cover in these
two countries) when involved in legitimate metal detecting activities.
Representation at all National Council meetings via experienced
delegates well versed in the needs of the detector user. Personalised
NCMD membership and insurance cover cards. Representation by an
experienced Individual and Associate membership secretariat appointed by
the NCMD, who will be responsible for keeping your best interests at
the forefront of local and national detecting matters by referring
your needs, concerns and requests to the full committee of the NCMD
for consideration at its quarterly meetings. The right to attend any
general meeting of the NCMD as an observer, after giving advance
notice in writing. A colour News bulletin "Digging Deep"sent by post four times a year,
containing items of national news and interests. The knowledge that,
if you have a legitimate serious problem relating to the hobby, there
will be a whole organisation with its wide experience to work on your
behalf should this be necessary.
At A
Personal Level :- Peace of mind while out metal detecting, safe in the
knowledge that while you stay within the law, the constitution of
the NCMD and code of conduct, you are insured and have the
weight of the NCMD and the Central Council for Physical Recreation
behind you. The knowledge that those same organisations are
involved in a constant vigil, protecting your
right to take part in a legitimate, responsible and enjoyable pastime.
Who Can Become An Individual and Associate Member ?
Individuals who fulfils the following criteria :- No convictions, or cases
pending, for illegal activities connected with metal detecting. Have
not been expelled from any NCMD affiliated club for activities which
might bring the club or hobby into disrepute. prepared to uphold
the constitution of the NCMD, abide by the decisions of its General
Committee and conform to its code of conduct at all times. Will not
commit the NCMD to any financial, legal or political undertaking
without explicit permission in writing from the Officers and committee of
the NCMD. Upon demand pay all relevant subscriptions at the current
rate. Are accepted by the NCMD after their application has
been considered by the committee.
WHAT DOES IT COST ?
There is No initial "Signing on Fee" For each individual member,
without exception, there is an advanced subscription which is
currently £9-00 ( Nine Pounds ) per year, or thereof,
upon acceptance. Each NCMD year runs from 1st April to 31st March. The
current subscription consists of £6-00 NCMD dues.£3-00 Regional administration
charge. There is an
implicit understanding that correspondence and enquiries addressed
to the secretary or other officers by Individual and Associate members
will be accompanied by return postage at all times should an answer be
required.
